When a coordinator goes to a new team, it pays to connect-the-dots when it comes to player movement. Kareem Martin played the past four years with the Cardinals and James Bettcher ran the defense in Arizona the past three years. This connection is one of the main reasons why Martin is the newest Giants linebacker, agreeing to terms Wednesday.

Originally a 2014 third-round draft pick out of North Carolina, Martin was a backup his first three years with the Cardinals, before starting 10 games in 2017. He had 24 tackles, one sack and one interception last season. Martin has played in 56 games in the NFL, with 14 starts.

Herzlich, though, is more of a Authentic Mel Blount Jersey special teams player than he is a reserve linebacker, although if he makes the team will be listed as a backup linebacker. The Giants hope their linebacker corps will be anchored by Ogletree and B.J. Goodson, who struggled through an injury-filled second NFL season. Goodson was the Opening Day starter in 2017 and had 18 tackles in the loss to the Cowboys, but ended up playing in only seven games because of an assortment of leg and ankle injuries.

The notion that I can be a great signing for your team for cheap, not because of my skill set but because I’ve protested systemic oppression, is ludicrous, Reid, 26, tweeted. If you think [it] is, then your mindset is part of the problem too.

Kaepernick retweeted the message. In December, the outspoken Reid said he understood he could experience a drought as a result of his social advocacy.

I wouldn’t use the word concerned, Reid told ESPN about the possibility of teams shunning him. I would say I understand that’s a possibility. And I’m completely fine with it. The things that I’ve done, I stand by, and I’ve done that for my own personal beliefs. Like I said, I’m fine with whatever outcome happens because of that.
